Infant First Aid courses provided by Blue Tiger Training
Newcastle Pregnancy and Baby Centre is pleased to be holding Infant First Aid Courses.
Mike from Blue Tiger Training is an ex-paramedic with more than 12 years' experience.
The course content covers:
Bleeding, choking, febrile convulsions, burns, recovery position and CPR.
Mike is happy to answer questions about first aid, so don't hesitate to ask! The course is aimed at covering children from 0-puberty, however the instructor also mentions how to deal with adults and pregnant women too.
I have 2 young children under 4 years old and felt the course has taught me how to be ready to deal with an emergency. I wish I had done the course when my children were babies, or even before I had them!
Two things mentioned in the course which we felt were worth putting on the website are:
112: the alternative phone number for 999 which has better coverage for mobile phones, so if you are trying to ring from a mobile this is worth remembering.
ICE: 'in case of emergency' - it is recommended you put this into your mobile phone contact list with the number of the person you want emergency services to contact in case you are unconscious.
The next course will be 18th September 2-5pm and costs £40 per person.
