Treatments are available at Jesmond Natural Health and Fertility Clinic on Saturdays
Julia has over a decade of experience working in the field of complementary health. She is a nutritional therapist, yoga teacher and reiki practitioner, and combines these modalities to support women through pregnancy, natural childbirth and post-natal recovery. As a mother herself she also has firsthand experience of the powerful effect these therapies have at this time.
Julia holds a reiki masters training in the lineage of Dr Mikoa Usui, and sees women for a range of symptoms during pregnancy. Many women find reiki provides relief from backache, fatigue, anxiety and emotional instability. It also allows women to take time for themselves, to deeply relax and to connect with their baby. Post-natally it can help re-centering and allow the body time and space to heal following birth.
As well as reiki, Julia also offers nutrition consultations to help women with conditions such as gestational diabetes, pre-eclampsia and postpartum thyroiditis. She also holds 1-to-1 yoga sessions for therapeutic needs including pelvic girdle pain, symphysis pubis dysfunction, weak pelvic floor, uterine prolapse and split-rectus abdominis muscles.
Reiki sessions begin with a short consultation to discuss any medical conditions and symptoms, as well as aims from the session. The session is then carried out lying down, although seated is also possible for those who prefer to sit. All clothes are kept on and appointment lasts a total of 1hour (£40).
During a session Julie places her hands on different parts of the body, or just above the body, to focus the energy of reiki at these points. Reiki is natural healing technique whereby universal energy is channelled through the practitioner’s hands to the recipient. This in turn supports the recipient’s own subtle energy and facilitates the body to naturally rebalance.
