TinyTalk Baby and Toddler Signing
With TinyTalk North East Region teachers Emma, Rachel, Gayle
Baby signing uses signs to help babies communicate before they can talk. It can provide an incredible insight into your baby's thoughts. They can sign what they are thinking, needing or feeling. We use British Sign Language based signs to give babies a tool to express themselves and help to minimise frustration. It introduces language to your baby, therefore promoting confident speech.
TinyTalk classes are fun & relaxed. The first 1/2 hour is where we learn signs through singing nursery rhymes and action songs, and promote communication skills with sensory equipment; voile scarves, lycra, bubbles, mirrors and tactile sensory shapes. We use instruments and have signed stories in a relaxed friendly group while learning new signs each week. The second 1/2 hour is a social time with toys & refreshments provided.
Our baby signing classes are suitable from birth - 2yo (though from 18 months onwards the little ones may be ready for our toddler classes).
Toddler classes have physical activities such as parachute songs and more advanced language activities. Both classes contain social time for you and the children to make friends, play with toys, and have refreshments.
TinyTalk’s fun, friendly and award-winning Baby Signing classes have delighted babies and toddlers. Our very special mix of songs and rhymes, sensory activities, instruments, books, and social playtime over a drink and biscuit stimulates your baby’s development, is wonderful for you to spend quality time engaging with your little one, and an opportunity to make friends too!
Each term (usually 12 weeks) we teach 150 core signs with a different lesson plan to each week. Each term has different lesson plans too, so each week is essentially different and the signs are repeated regularly which is so important for the babies. You can start the classes at any time, you don’t have to wait for the beginning of a new term.
Our classes are developed in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework
Free taster sessions are available. Siblings attend free.
